3scouts ("we", "us", "our") provides an antiques and collectibles appraisal service via our website (3scouts.com) and mobile app. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.
Information we collect
- Account information — your name and email address when you sign up for a free valuation or subscription.
- Photos and descriptions — images and text descriptions of items you submit for appraisal.
- Collecting preferences — for subscribers using our eBay monitoring service, the description of items you wish to be alerted about (your "brief").
- Usage data — how many appraisals you've requested, subscription plan and status.
- Payment information — handled entirely by Apple (App Store subscriptions) or Stripe (web subscriptions). We do not store card details ourselves.
How we use your information
- To generate appraisal and valuation reports using AI-powered image analysis (provided by Anthropic's Claude).
- To send you reports, account notifications and (if subscribed) eBay listing alerts by email (sent via Resend).
- To manage your subscription and usage limits.
- To improve the accuracy and quality of our appraisal service.
Third parties we work with
- Anthropic (Claude) — processes photos and descriptions you submit to generate appraisal analysis. Images are sent for analysis purposes only.
- Resend — used to deliver report and notification emails.
- eBay — for subscribers using eBay monitoring, we query eBay's public listing data based on your stated preferences. We do not share your personal information with eBay.
- Apple / Stripe — process subscription payments. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.
- Railway — our hosting provider, which stores account data and submitted images securely.
Data retention
We retain your account information and report history for as long as your account is active, so you can access your previous appraisals. If you wish to delete your account and associated data, email us at alan@3scouts.com and we will remove your information within 90 days.
Account and data deletion
You can request deletion of your account and all associated personal data at any time. To do so:
- Email alan@3scouts.com with the subject line "Delete my account"
- Include the email address associated with your 3scouts account
- We will confirm receipt and complete the deletion within 90 days
Upon deletion, we will remove your name, email address, appraisal history, photos submitted, collecting brief, and all associated account data. Anonymised, non-identifiable usage data may be retained for service improvement purposes.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information at any time. You can do this by contacting us directly. If you are located in the EU/EEA, you have additional rights under GDPR, including the right to data portability and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Security
We take reasonable technical measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and secure database storage. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's privacy
3scouts is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
